NATURAL RESOURCES POLICY AND MANAGEMENT
Innovative and integrative approaches to a wide range of natural resources policy and management issues
Paul Griss, President of Boldon Group Incorporated, served as executive director of the Canadian Nature Federation (now Nature Canada) from 1986 -1992. Since taking on that role, he has been actively engaged on a wide range of natural resources policy and management issues across Canada and internationally including: the development of policy and legislation at the federal and provincial levels; energy resource development; sustainable forest policy and management; water policy; biodiversity conservation; protected areas establishment and management; climate change and carbon offsets; and ecosystem services. Boldon Group Incorporated works closely on these issues with federal and provincial government agencies, conservation and environmental NGOs, and leading companies in the forest, mining, energy and agricultural sectors.
Activities include:
- developing a Framework for the Implementation of Integrated Land Management with the input of a blue-chip advisory panel of industry, government, Aboriginal and NGO experts for Canada Land Resource Innovations;
- acting as strategic advisor to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources throughout the development of the Crown Forest Sustainability Act and its associated manuals;
- convening a national series of expert workshops on water policy in Canada;
- advising the Department of National Defence on the implications of the Convention on Biological Diversity for military lands across Canada; and
- convening a number of national workshops on forest offsets, including the State of Science on Forest Carbon Management in Canada, Forest Carbon Management Pilots series (which developed a Forest Carbon Management Protocol and Guidance Document) and the Forest Carbon Management workshops series.
In addition, Paul Griss has served on numerous boards of directors, technical committees and advisory bodies addressing natural resources policy, research and management issues at the national and provincial levels over more than 25 years.
