EXPERT FORUMS

Integrating science and policy options to provide strategic advice to decision-makers on issues in conservation and environmental protection

Boldon Group Incorporated works with business, NGO, academic and government partners to develop expert forums that address controversial issues which generally meet the following criteria:

• policy and regulation may not yet exist or jurisdiction over the issue is fragmented;
• there is a need for greater integration of science into policy or decision-making;
• there is a large and diverse group of stakeholders and communication or mutual understanding is lacking; and/or
• policy development would benefit from greater leadership or coordination.

We convene and facilitate these forums in consultation with partners and we summarize expert presentations and discussion into concise "state of the debate" reports that bring clarity to the issue, identify areas of convergence, isolate areas of divergence, and suggest strategic directions or policy options where appropriate. These expert forums have either been projects of the New Directions Group or have been Expert Workshops developed with multiple partners.
